DSG is most experienced with the Sunquest (formerly Misys) laboratory information system blood bank module, since version 4.3. We also work with Mediware’s legacy Lifeline (formerly Western Star from Infomedic) blood bank system.
Our most common request is to create a migration path to products like Cerner Millennium PathNet, Meditech Client/Server, Sunquest laboratory and custom formatted archival databases or reports. HL7 or vendor-specific data streams are used to transfer data out of one system and into another.
Blood bank migrations always involve the transfer of patient and blood product history to the target information system. DSG can assist not only in transferring historical data, but we can help you build your new system’s infrastructure by supplying you with frequency counts by test and/or result code from the source system and dictionaries of all English translations of coded values for blood types, antibodies, antigens, transfusion requirements, blood component types, blood sources, physicians, technicians and inpatient and outpatient facilities.
Patient history conversions include demographics, blood typing and general testing results, antibodies, antigens, problems, comments and transfusion requirements. Some sites also include their donor modules.
Blood product history conversions include source and inventory details, unit testing results, antibodies, antigens, product comments and transfusion history. Supplied and manufactured products can be exported along with their transaction and final disposition history. Auxillary data streams can be created to maintain the relationships between pooled, derivative and original units.
While every migration project is different and requires its own nuanced design specification, some of the more common requests are for:
Some sites have chosen to reconstitute historical archived data from a prior information system into the new target system or into a new archive database.
